In today’s fast-paced world, where technology and social media dominate our lives, the habit of reading books is gradually fading away. The rise of short-form content, such as Reels and Shorts, has reduced our attention span, weakened deep reading skills, and impacted creativity.
Since childhood, I did not have the habit of reading books regularly. However, due to peer pressure, I started reading β and now, books have become my greatest treasure.
The benefits I enjoy from reading are immense. It allows me to explore the world, build self-confidence, set clear future goals by learning from the past and understanding the present, and even helps me engage in meaningful conversations with colleagues, friends, and family. Most importantly, it has given me a space to reflect, learn, and grow.
I strongly believe that parents and teachers should encourage children to cultivate the habit of reading. Here are a few simple ways to enhance reading skills:
π Start with 5 to 10 minutes, then gradually increase to 20 to 30 minutes of reading every day.
π Create a small library at home.
π Allow children to choose books based on their interests to foster curiosity.
π Lead by example β when parents read, children naturally follow.
Reading is truly a treasure β letβs unlock its power!
